Admissions

St Paul's Primary School is a school open to both boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 11 years old and is maintained by Manchester City Council.

At St Paul's Primary we are proud of our rich diversity of culture and backgrounds as it provides us with a wealth of diversity on which the school way of life is based and helps serve our local community.

How do I get my child into school?

Admission for Nursery aged children

We aim to provide full time nursery places for children whose third birthday falls between September 1st to August 31st of the previous academic year. Children cannot be admitted into our nursery class until they have turned three years old.

Parents/carers should contact the school office if they wish to place their child’s name on our nursery waiting list. Admission to nursery is not based on how long your child’s name has been on the waiting list, putting their name on the waiting list earlier does not mean they will get preference to a place.

The closing date for Nursery 2023/24 applications is Friday 1 March 2024. Any applications received after this date will still be accepted but will be placed onto our waiting list.

Nursery places will be allocated for September 2024 in March/April 2024 and parents/carers will be contacted if their child is offered a place at our school. If your child is not successful in obtaining a place, their name will remain on our waiting list.

For further information on our admissions procedures for Nursery aged children, please see our Nursery Admissions page.

Admission for Reception aged children

The Local Authority of Manchester is responsible for the admissions of all our reception places, including children who are already in our nursery class. The Local Authority will write to you explaining how you can apply for a reception place for your child. The Local Authority form must be completed by parents/carers online by the nominated date in the year before your child is due to start reception. A late application could result in your child not getting a place at the school of their choice. Parents/carers who have a nursery place at St Paul's Primary School do not automatically get a place in reception at our school.

For further information on our admissions procedures for reception aged children or for the contact details of the Local Authority Admissions Department, please see our Reception Admissions page.

Admissions for Year 1 to Year 6 children

The Local Authority of Manchester is responsible for the admissions of all other year group places at St Paul's Primary School.  You will need to contact the Local Authority to request an In-Year Admission Form.  Once you have completed this form and returned it to the Local Authority they will place your child’s name on a waiting list for your preferred school and you will be contacted when a place becomes available.

For further information on our admissions procedures for Year 1 to Year 6 children or for the contact details of the Local Authority Admissions Department, please see our Year 1 to Year 6 Admissions page.
